Why Home for Good?

Home for Good is for professional, working moms who want to become high-earning, work-from-home freelancers to bring more balance to their lives.

Before I became a freelance writer, I thought my only options were to work outside the home, or to be a stay-at-home mom. There’s nothing wrong with either of those things, to be sure, but (1) I wanted to be home more than anything, and (2) I still needed to bring in an income.

Then I got my big break as a freelance writer, and my life changed.

Now that I’ve been running a freelance writing business for a few years, I want to help other moms do the same. I’m not filthy rich and I probably never will be, but…

  • I make way more money than I did working at any of my “legit” jobs

  • I set my own hours, work only for clients that I like, and don’t have a boss

  • I get to be home all day, every day

  • I get to try lots of media samples and attend fun virtual events in my niche

  • I truly (madly, deeply) enjoy the work I do and the people I work with

That’s not to say that you can’t get filthy rich freelance writing, because you definitely can. That’s not who I’m writing for, though.

Home for Good is for women who are in the shoes I was wearing just a few years ago: highly educated and working full time, but longing to be home and to have more freedom and flexibility.

About SaVanna

I’m SaVanna, the author of this newsletter. Hi! I’m a registered dietitian and I’ve been a full-time (but far less than 40 hours per week) freelance writer for going on 3 years.

I live in the Little Rock area with my husband and 2 kids. When I’m not working, I’m gardening, cooking, reading, lifting weights, running (very slowly), or trying-but-failing to keep a tidy home. I also homeschool our oldest (1st grade), and our youngest (almost 2 y/o) is learning via osmosis. Oh, and I’m also passionate about sitting quietly in the bathroom after I finally get the kids to bed every night.

Home for Good is a side project and a labor of love. Most of my writing is about nutrition and fitness. I write for wellness brands (like Carb Manager, Lumen, and Ritual) and media outlets (like Healthline, Greatist, and Sports Illustrated). I also blog about the keto diet and other health topics at my website, SaVannaShoemaker.com.

If you’d like to get in touch, you can connect with me on LinkedIn.
